General Information
- Days of Operation: Every Sunday of the year
- Hours of Operation: 12:45pm–3:00pm
- Volunteer Hours: Morning Shift, 8:45am–11:30pm/Afternoon Shift, 11:45pm–3:30pm

- Admittance Policy:
- Anyone in need of a meal is welcome!
- Disabled individuals, seniors, women, and families w/children: Line up at 46 West 16th St, east gate. Doors open at 12:45pm.
- All able-bodied adults: Line up at 55 West 15th St., east gate. Doors open at 1:00pm.
Program Description
Open every Sunday, a day when most other soup kitchens in NYC are closed, the Welcome Table serves 900-1300 hot meals each week. We strive to go beyond food by also providing our guests with assistance in obtaining entitlement benefits, free chiropractic treatments, HIV testing and counseling, and voter registration drives.
Volunteer Information
- All volunteers MUST sign-up in advance. Due to a large number of volunteers, early sign-ups are encouraged.

- Students in need of a Service Verification letter should bring their paperwork or request a letter from the reception desk on the day of their service
- Students seeking more than 10 hours of service for their class or program should speak with Cassandra Agredo, 212-627-2100, x208

Last Week’s Numbers
On Sunday, March 11th, the Welcome Table served 903 meals, provided 59 with chiropractic treatments, and assisted 15 people with benefits. We could not do this without the dedication and generosity of our amazing volunteers! Thanks to all who participated in preparing, serving, and cleaning-up after our meal.

“Funding Shift for Free Food”, The Wall Street Journal
A reorganization of how New York state funds hunger-relief groups has reshaped the region’s food-delivery system for the poor, causing cutbacks in long-established programs while helping other efforts expand.
Catholic Charities Community Services was among the biggest losers in the state Department of Health’s re-evaluation of its food funding formula. The Archdiocese of New York’s program gets $150,000 this year, a 73% cut, forcing the charity to lay off two employees, reduce funding to 18 programs, and slash how much food it gives away. Nearly 1 in 5 Americans Report Inability to Afford Enough Food
Nearly one in five Americans struggled to afford enough food for themselves and their families in 2010, according to a new report released today by the Food Research and Action Center. Xavier Mission Receives Agency Excellence Award
At its Annual Agency Conference on January 11th, the Food Bank for New York City honored Xavier Mission with the Agency Excellence Award, its premier award bestowed on a network food program. Xavier Mission Receives $70,000 Grant from USDA
Xavier Mission has recently been awarded a grant for $70,129 from The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) Infrastructure Grant program of the USDA. The Mission is one of only 39 programs across the entire country to receive funding! Continue reading
