We call on our elected officials when we have problems but we should also say THANK YOU when they achieve something good.
New York City and Arizona were the only two areas left in the United States with the draconian fingerprinting requirement for Food Stamp applicants, treating those in need like criminals. More than $1 billion in federal money is lost by New York each year because 1.4 million people in New York State eligible for SNAP/Food Stamps do not sign up, many of them because of the stigmatizing and degrading process. We applaud Gov. Cuomo for taking this step!
