RCIA

An Invitation

The director of RCIA is Father Peter Fink, SJ, assisted by Dr. Luz Marina Diaz.  Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) invites women and men to baptism in the Catholic church, and all baptized Christians who seek confirmation and full communion as Catholics. The RCIA begins with a period of Inquiry for five weeks.  Inquiry I begins Oct 6through Nov 3; Inquiry II begins Nov 10 through Dec15.   One must fulfill the 5 week requirement before entering the period of Catechumens, which begins January 5th and continues through the Easter Vigil to April 27th.  Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist will be celebrated at the Easter Vigil, April 19th, 2014.

The RCIA process is designed for those adults who are:

  • Persons who are not baptized
  • Christians who are baptized in another tradition
  • Baptized Catholics who have not received confirmation.
We come together on Sundays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM after the 11:30 AM Mass in the West Room of the Parish Office, to learn about the scriptures and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and at the same time, to discover where God is present in our lives. The baptized and the non-baptized will attend together the 11:30 Mass on Sundays, the sessions after Mass from 1pm-3pm in the West Room, a retreat held traditionally on Palm Sunday from 1pm-5pm and a ceremony in St. Patrick Cathedral.

Baptized and non-baptized who want to know more about the Catholic Faith and perhaps join RCIA need to fill out the RCIA form. Please, fill out the following electronic form http://www.sfxavier.org/wordpress/faith-formation/rcia/rcia-registration-form-online/ .
