The “Family Faith Choir” is an intergenerational choral consisting of parents, children and teenagers who are part of the Family Faith Program.
Led by Nicolás Alberto Dosman, the Family Faith Choir rehearses from 11:30am to 12:30pm in the West Room with lunch after rehearsal in the Mary Chapel.
The choir, founded in 2010, has participated in (1) the Family Faith Mass which takes place on the first Sunday of every month at 9am, when there is a catechetical class; (2) family faith First Reconciliation Service; (3) the First Holy Communion Ceremony and (4) the Christmas Pageant.
Join the Family Faith Choir is an optional important component of our religious education program.
Nicolás Alberto Dosman Biography
Educator, Musician, and Choral Conductor. His profound Catholic faith and love for God has been expressed through music. He studied in the Oberlin Conservatory of music with a vocal emphasis and a major in music education. He then completed a Master’s degree at Florida State University majoring in choral music education. Currently he is completing a Doctor of Education at Teachers College, Columbia University in music education.
He began music ministry in Holy Cross Church in Dover as part of the Hispanic choir, and assisted and facilitated a children’s retreat known as “Martha’s Vineyard”. Following that retreat has participated, facilitated, and assisted in many retreats as well as served as a musician in Delaware, Ohio, Florida and New York in a variety of parishes.
His composition has won the Coral Gables rotary award twice for his choral arrangements of Hispanic music. As an educator and choral conductor he has traveled with choirs in many cities around the country. Choirs under his direction have won many awards and accolades for their musical excellence.
Nicolás was the director of music for Our Lady Queen of Heaven in Tamarac, Florida. He then worked as a cantor and organist at Saint Catherine of Sienna church for five years under the Father Juan Sosa and founder of the Instituto Liturgia Hispana Inc. (Hispanic Liturgical Institute) and co-author of the Spanish hymnal Flor y Canto.
In Miami, Nicolás collaborated and was a soloist in several presentations of OCP(Oregon Catholic Press) particularly in the premier of new music by composer Lourdes Montgomery. In addition to religious concerts he recorded Catholic music for composer and musician Alberto Coppo.
Currently, he is the director of the Family Faith chorus. The focus of this particular chorus is “Family Faith” and this chorus is an intergenerational chorus. In addition to directing this chorus, he is also the director of Casita Sings in the Bronx, NY.
