“A Real Spirituality for the Real World” with Father Richard Leonard, S.J
Sunday, September 9th
Main Church
11:30am Mass (with a book signing to follow)
You can attend one of the following sections of the workshop or both.
1. “A Real Spirituality for the Real World” 1.30 – 2.50 pm
“We are the Choices We Make”
If faith gives us any gift, then it has to be discernment – the ability to navigate our daily lives alert to demands of the Gospel and its practical application in our lives. How do we take stock of lives with Christ so that we can move to richer and deeper faith renewed. What are the blocks that get in the way? And in Ignatian Spirituality what are practical decisions that help us make the best choices for our real lives?
(Short break)
2. “From Darkness into the Light: Holding to Faith through the Tough Times.” 3.00pm – 4.30pm
Our faith in God is easier when everything is going well. But what about the times in our lives when it is challenged, undermined and threatened by the things that happens to us, or those we love? This critical session will help out words around how we can hold to a God who walks with us in the “valley of tears”?
5pm Mass (with a book signing to follow)
Fr. Richard Leonard, S.J., a former member of the SFX parish staff and author of Where the Hell is God and Preaching to the Converted, will be visiting from his home in Australia and has offered to preside at our 11:30am and 5:00pm Masses on September 9th.
